Yes. It is vital that the operating system has a login name and password. For all Windows NT 4.0 users, this is standard.

What Internet Service Provider (ISP) works best with OptioNet?

OptioNet needs a true Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection to work properly. AOL, CompuServe and MSN users need to have the latest version of their software. Older versions have difficulties connecting to Intranet services such as OptioNet. Although some customers have had success working with older versions of the software, it is the rare exception rather than the rule. A local ISP is a good alternative which offers direct Internet services without the network problems and firewall issues associated with older online software versions and services.

How do I get security access to OptioNet?

OptioNet is an Extranet system accessed via the Internet. The computer that will be a workstation will need to be connected to the Internet and the customer will need to call our support desk at the same time. If a phone line is not available while the computer is connected to the Internet, please call our support desk for individual instruction on how to gain security access.

How do I get access through my firewall?

OptioNet users who connect to the Internet through a firewall well need to request access through the firewall via port address 21064. Contact your network administrator so that this port can be opened.

How do I know if my system is set up to connect?

If the computer has gone through the installation completely and is connected to the Internet, it is possible to verify if your Internet TCP/IP utilities are setup correctly. From a DOS prompt type the following:   
           Ping 65.5.33.22

There should be a "Reply ..." lines if the connection is made. If there are no "Reply ..." lines from the IP address entered, please contact our service support desk. If there is a reply, proceed to the second test by typing the following:  
           Tmor ingres::optionet

A "Continue *" will display if the workstation has connected correctly to the Orion Database. Type \q to quit from that screen. If a connection is not made, a descriptive message will appear giving details for the failed connection. Contact our support desk for immediate assistance.

When is the best time to download the End-of-Day files?

To ensure that all data has been gathered for a given day's business and is available for download, the best time to download End-of-day market price databases or Settlement files is 6:30 pm EST.
